Join us as BLUE STYLES BRASS BAND brings their intoxicating blend of rural and urban string band, country blues, ragtime and jug band music to the Beacon Rooftop while DJ Fotifo spins his latest tunes.
BLUE STYLES BRASS BAND is trumpeter Joseph Brotherton’s homage to New Orleans, the birthplace of one of America’s national treasures, Jazz music. This 4 piece brass band celebrates the sounds of NOLA’s 2nd line music and the original concepts of Jazz. Blue Styles Brass Band is your ticket to swing you straight to the Bayou and back with plenty of their personal modern sound to accompany the exciting environment they bring and swing!
DJ FOTIFO is a controllist DJ who manipulates sounds and creates music live using computer controllers and software. Stunning melodies, hypnotizing vocals, and versatile music genres are perfect signature sounds of DJ FOtiFO. FOtiFO played in the most respected and in-demand clubs of Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. A former music producer FOtiFO is currently working with local and international artist. Accompanied by some of the area’s most talented jazz musicians, Yvette Rivers sings timeless jazz standards from the Great American songbook. Prior to singing professionally, Yvette performed in Redhot & Blue and Whim n’ Rhythm, two a capella singing groups at Yale University. Yvette began singing professionally in the DC area in 2000 as the “girl singer” for the La Salle Dance Orchestra, a big band that performed music from the 20s and 30s. Since then, Yvette has performed with various jazz trios and quartets at local restaurants, private events, and the Kennedy Center for a big band tribute.
DJ JOHN JAZZ has been playing music since his earliest memories as a child. His main instrument is the saxophone, but he can also play the guitar, bass, and drums. From New York, to Guatemala, to DC, he has been DJing for 11 years and producing music for 9. John Jazz has an eclectic style and loves to play for any crowd. He takes his job seriously and believes that music is a spiritual form of expression. Music is his passion and you can hear it when he spins.

Join us and our partner Alliance Francaise on June 14 for a thirsty-Thursday Rooftop Sunset at the Sky Bar on the rooftop of the Beacon Hotel. We’ll send you out into the summer season in true French style with drinks, dancing, and the city lights and setting sun as your backdrop.

JOSE SACIN
Known for his expressive voice of “liquid gold” and the “stage presence of a lion”, this Peruvian native is considered to be one of the leading South America baritones of our time. He has performed and collaborated with the leading figures of the opera and music world, such as Placido Domingo at Nationals Stadium in Washington, DC for a nationally televised performance for Pope Benedict XVI; performance with Gregory Buchalter of the Metropolitan Opera; the Chilean soprano Veronica Villaroel; American soprano Alessandra Marc, Enrique Ricci and Will Crutchfield. His repertoire varies from Rigoletto and Faust to the newly discovered versions of Verdi, La Forza and Gossett. He has portrayed many title roles while performing with the Washington National Opera, Opera de Lima, Baltimore Opera, Opera Camerata of Washington, Caramoor Opera Festival, Opera North, among others.http://www.josesacin.com

Second Annual – FUNKY WHITE NIGHT
Join us for the Second Annual – FUNKY WHITE NIGHT as we bid farewell to Spring and welcome sunny Summer with an eclectic evening of live music creation by Cricket Fusion Band and DJ John Jazz. What sets these two performing groups apart from many others is that they create new music live as they perform. There are no scores, no notes, each sound and song is unique and unrepeatable, created on the spot in front of your eyes.
The Cricket Fusion is a collaboration of the most creative Jazz musicians in Washington, DC, performing NOW MUSIC genre. Meaning, even though they do compose a good portion of their music, the heart of it is found in the moment at hand in a group improvisational way. All of the members being thoroughly studied and very experienced musicians are able to use the diverse components of music’s past and present to create an incredibly groovy NOW MUSIC only achieved by intensely listening and responding to each other and the collective ideas that are being found together. Their celebrated sound is as modern as modern gets, and audiences can’t stop bobbing their heads and dancing on their feet or in their chairs while the Cricket Fusion gets down to the synergy of Funk and Jazz!
