Thursday, August 18th fairies and surprises shared treats for all the senses as Art Soiree hosted its second annual Midsummer Night’s Dream Extravaganza. Guests celebrated the summer and immersed into a fantastic, fairy-laden setting of color, art and music. CITIES’ meticulously crafted menu, and a delightful cocktail and sparkling wine menu further transformed guests into the realm of Fairyland, while new beats from DJ Hammond made everyone revel and frolic late into the night. The evening also featured up-and-coming performer Beau Young Prince. This Pop Up Shop recording artist made his first Art Soiree appearance by performing during this special evening.
Guests witnessed live body painting and digital photo exhibit by a team of DC’s best artists.
ADRIENNE MILLS – weaves a magical brush with her camera and her creative mind. She manages to do that not only as a photographer, but also as a body painter. Bored with paper canvases during her figure painting and drawing classes, she ventured into painting on people. Human canvases seemed to magically transform ordinary paint into live art. These images, souvenirs of the enigmatic conversion from being human to being art, allow a voyeuristic glimpse of the momentary metamorphosis. Adrienne is a graduate of the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC. Her work has been widely exhibited in the Mid Atlantic region including the Corcoran Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Museum. Mills’ works deal with opening new avenues in the world of contemporary photography that include a powerful element of painting and performance. Her models are her canvasses and her photographs are her powerful contributions to the dialogue of contemporary art. http://figurephotos.com/
EKATERINA KRUPKO – “This is how I can filter the reality, a special way to exist and relate my ego to the world that contains me.” Ekaterina is a graduate of Kaliningrad art school and currently a student at a Moscow State University of Technology and Management. She has progressed from viewing gorgeous landscapes of her native Baltic Sea and Kurische split to making sketches in the open air like impressionist and post impressionists who she greatly admires. Ekaterina is also the founder of an art group “Feetsteps on the sand”, which has showcased at different exhibitions in Russia as well as has been part of a number of international projects in Poland, Lithuania, Germany and Sweden. As she further develops her skills, her canvases vary and her latest achievements are in body painting. http://www.artween.com/Art?ists/Ekaterina-Krupko
