ART SOIREE - GAUGUIN

Thursday, May 19th Art Soiree, The Alliance Française de Washington & The National Gallery of Art invited guests to Tour Tiki Tahiti: A Gauguin Experience. The tour was held at the National Gallery of Art, East Building and was followed by Happy Hour with Film, “Gauguin: Maker of Myth”, Hula dancers, DJ Hervé and festive cocktails at the Alliance Francaise.

Guests enjoyed an exclusive exhibition tour of “Gauguin: Maker of Myth” and revel in more than 100 works by the French master. Saw oil paintings, pastels, prints, drawings, sculpture, and decorated functional objects to explore Gauguin’s use of religious and mythological symbols to tell stories and create myths – about the world and himself!

The fun continued at the Alliance Française with exciting exhibition-inspired drinks, videos, music and more. The evening featured the photography exhibit by Samantha Delaborde, depicting children in developing countries. These photos were on sale at a 50% reduced rate and proceeds will go to Fleur d’Ecole. This French association aims to develop the school system in Madagascar which suffers from a difficult economic and social situation.
